SUMMARY:U.S. Naval Academy Honors Miles Davis Centennial
DESCRIPTION:January 28\, 2026 | 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM \nKeystone Korner Baltimore\n1350 Lancaster St\nBaltimore\, MD 21231 \nThe United States Naval Academy Band proudly presents a performance of the iconic jazz album Birth of the Cool. This concert celebrates 2026 as the 250th year in the history of the United States of America and the 100th anniversary of the birthday of one of the most important and influential American musicians\, Miles Davis (1926-1991). The ethereal\, and at times mysterious\, Birth of the Cool arrangements by Gil Evans\, Gerry Mulligan (and others) featured Davis surrounded by a distinct instrumentation\, including the non-common jazz instruments of French Horn and Tuba. Join us as we commemorate 250 years of the United States\, America’s classical music\, and the centennial of this iconic American artist\, Miles Davis! \nThe United States Naval Academy Band was formed in November of 1852 by order of the Secretary of the Navy. The band’s primary mission is to provide musical support to the Superintendent\, Commandant\, and Brigade of Midshipmen. These dedicated professionals are known across the nation as “The Navy’s Oldest and Finest Band!” Our members have studied at prominent music schools and conservatories nationwide and have extensive experience in performance and teaching. The Naval Academy Band takes pride in representing the Naval Academy’s tradition of excellence. \nThis is a FREE admission show\, but advance reservations are strongly recommended. \n\nGet Tickets!
