Defender's Day in Havre de Grace

DEFENDER’S DAY

Join us as we celebrate the life of Havre de Grace’s hero and defender John O’ Neill, who courageously defended the city from the British in the War of 1812.

Since this year’s event falls on “May the Fourth,” we have added a Star Wars element for even more fun!

The event begins with a welcome from our mayor followed by a short performance of local thespians depicting this historic event. The remainder of the day brings you live music by No Boundaries and The Klassix.

Bring your lawn chairs & blankets, and spend the day by the water in beautiful Concord Point Park.

*No coolers. Outside alcoholic beverages not permitted.

Who was John O'Neill

John O’Neill was appointed the first keeper at Concord Point Lighthouse largely in recognition of his brave actions during the War of 1812. Born in Ireland on November 23, 1768, he came to America at the age of eighteen. He was a gunsmith and served in the military under General Harry Lee during the Whisky Insurrection in 1794. Lt.
